Can you feel it? Summer is in full swing. I can, especially this week. July’s days are ebbing away as we extend our morning snooze time and spend the afternoons sipping lemonade by the neighborhood pool for a couple of hours. I adore the mothers in their swimwear in colours of turquoise, coral, orange, and pink, as well as the children in their vibrant swimwear and beach blankets. The brightest colors are best worn and displayed during the summer.

Shannon from AKA Design was invited to give her opinions on summer color—or color, as our Canadian friends up north say—in this post. Say hello to Shannon once more.

Hello everyone, Shannon is here to discuss summer color! The summer is the ideal season to loosen up and have some fun with color both inside and outside your house. Your home may give you that little extra summer lovin’ whether you spend your summer days lounging by the beach or staying cool in an air-conditioned office. Just dress it up for the season.

I’m not suggesting that you completely redecorate a room simply for the summer. Changing the throw pillows, flowers, and sometimes even the artwork to match the season is what I actually mean. Having summer chairs, decorative pillows, and vibrant outdoor dinnerware can help you take your décor a step further if you are fortunate enough to have outdoor spaces of your own.

Most commonly cold in tone, blue is ideal for settings where you wish to promote serenity or peace. It is frequently related to clarity, imagination, and summer. It is the color of the sky, the ocean, and dusk. After a hot day in the sun, it is really soothing to settle into a room with blue accents.

Blue is cooler than yellow, although yellow is known for being sunny and bright. The color yellow is upbeat, stimulates the intellect, and is considered to inspire creativity. Due to its rich hue and the amount of light it reflects, too much yellow can strain the eyes, but it is ideal for smaller doses of color or for use outdoors in shaded regions. Yellow is ideal for highlighting specific elements, such an accent wall or a piece of artwork.

Reds are stimulants, and various colors of red are frequently connected to love and passion. Red is another eye-catching color, making it ideal for highlights in a room, particularly one used frequently at night. It adds coziness and color that is as vibrant as ripe summer strawberries and cherries.

Most individuals have strong opinions about orange, either loving it or loathing it. Although orange is usually associated with the fall, other hues like tangerine and peach can also conjure up wonderful summertime memories. It is both the color of warmth and brilliance at the same time.

Second only to blue in terms of popularity, green is immensely calming both psychologically and physically and is frequently connected to tranquility. Green is the color to use if you want to create a relaxing, organic, and natural atmosphere in your home. In its brighter tints, like lime or Kelly green, green adds a striking pop of color, but it also looks lovely in gentler tones.

For individuals who prefer some feminine flare, pinks are closely connected to red and have many of the same traits without being as intense. Pink comes in a variety of shades, from vibrant fushia pink to delicate pastels. By including fresh summer flowers or another accent color like turquoise, yellow, or green into an overall color scheme, the summer aspect can be amplified.

Or, if you’re more of a neutrals person like me, you may add your summer color in smaller doses with items like a bowl of gorgeous flowers, some fresh fruit, or layers of textures made from natural materials.
