These turtle bars are bursting with taste and have all the mouthwatering qualities a decent turtle candy should have. Large chocolate chunks, a substantial drizzle of caramel, and the ideal quantity of nuts in chopped form.

You know how when this time of year rolls around, everyone starts baking cookies? I do make my fair share of cookies too, but more often than not, you can find me making turtle candies. They are, in my opinion, the ideal small gift to offer to friends, family, neighbors, and pretty much everyone. Everyone adores them, they’re quite simple to make, and they go well with just about anything.

I do enjoy turtle candies, yes. So much so that the last time I had all the materials on hand, I chose to attempt to bake a turtle candy cake. Even though the outcome wasn’t what I had hoped for, the next day I was back in the kitchen with more ingredients. These turtle bars came to life after a few trials and tries, and my god, they are fantastic.

And when I say great, I really mean so good you’ll end yourself preparing them virtually every time you have a taste for dessert or something sweet.

They taste just like the actual thing, which is why they are so good. They are loaded with caramel (really, go big!) and they contain both chopped pecans and chocolate bits. The cake used to make the bars is really soft, somewhat moist, and wonderfully tasty without being overly sugary (while yet keeping its shape beautifully!).

The best part is that these turtle bars are a major hit with the public and make a fantastic gift. So, trust me when I say this is the one if you’re trying to break out of the cookie rut or searching for a wonderful dish to bring to parties or bake sales.
