Dear friends: It’s not very common for me to receive repeated requests for a tutorial, but after publishing my post on how I created these DIY photo mats for Attley’s room, I began receiving a ton of inquiries about where I got the frames. I received a ton of requests for the instruction as soon as possible after responding and explained that I altered several store-bought frames to achieve the effect. Thus, here it is! SEMI-DIY GOLD FRAMES TUTORIAL

1) Take the back insert and glass out of your square plastic frames. Although the frames are plastic, when finished, they will resemble beautiful gold metal.

2) Use a paper towel and a small bit of Rub N’ Buff in Antique Gold to rub the black plastic frame. Because it is made of wax, a little goes a long way.

Don’t forget to properly coat the thin profile that will be seen on the front, and make sure you have complete coverage.

The interior of the frame, which will be covered, does not need to be coated. Work more wisely rather than harder;

3) The product is a lot more durable than spray paint and almost instantaneously dries. Therefore, you may practically immediately insert the backer, your photo mat, and your image. After which, hang them up after replacing the glass, which simply pops into place.

Less than one tube of the Rub N’ Buff in Antique Gold (which costs about $7.00) was utilized out of the eight frames, which we bought for $66. Then, for roughly 50 cents each, we created the photo mats. We spent less than $10 per frame overall. I consider that a MASSIVE win.

For our frames, I produced these DIY bright pink photo mats that are virtually indistinguishable from these much more expensive ones if they were paired with a white photo mat.
