I’m going to discuss with you today how painting your doors and trim may transform the look of your room. I’ll demonstrate to you how stunning black doors and white trim may appear in particular.
Trim and doors painted in the worst hue filled the majority of our main floor. I’m at a loss for words other than to mention that it resembles manilla folders or vomit in color. It has been removed from our downstairs rooms gradually, and it has made such a huge difference! Painting the trim and doors white would have improved the rooms in our downstairs even if we hadn’t made any other changes.
We have most recently been focusing on remodeling our kitchen. Yes, the trim and doors in the kitchen were painted a puke-colored hue. I suppose I could call it “beige,” but it doesn’t quite describe the terrible shade. Let me give you a quick recap of where we left off.
We made the decision to paint the trim entirely white. Check out the contrast between the original trim color and the white we chose—which isn’t even a BRIGHT white and has a significant amount of grey—to see for yourself. WOW. The space was dramatically changed by painting the trim white.
The interior doors were painted black, which was the MOST EXCITING change. So now we have white trim and black doors. Oh, very lovely! Many of you have probably seen this trend on other blogs and all on Pinterest. I have salivated over the images on Pinterest. We did it at last, and I’m so glad we did! It seems like my kitchen is dressed to the nines. It merely gives the space a refined, expensive appearance. What a difference a little paint can make! Additionally, we replaced the door hardware with oil-rubbed bronze from antique bronze.
For you to really see the difference the black doors and white trim created, here is a side-by-side comparison. Do you agree that the doors and trim have changed significantly from their previous color?
You might be wondering why I’m only showing you a tiny portion of the kitchen. Why am I only displaying the pantry’s door trim and trim around it? You didn’t imagine I would show you too many kitchen previews before we finish, did you? You’ve already seen our DIY herringbone board wall made from recycled materials and a peek at our painted kitchen floors, right? What else do you anticipate? Be tolerant. The kitchen reveal will soon take place. Remain tuned. UPDATE: The blog now features the kitchen reveal. To learn more, CLICK HERE!
For now, I only hope I’ve demonstrated to you how small, affordable adjustments, like the color of your interior doors and trim, can have a MASSIVE influence on a room. Everybody can paint their doors and trim!
Have you ever completely changed a room by only painting the doors and/or trim? I’d be interested in hearing about your experience.
